The Maine Golf Hall of Fame was founded in 1993 by Vern Putney, Carmen Pettapiece, Dick Doyle and Joseph Stillman, to recognize and honor Maine's outstanding individuals who excelled in the great game of golf, whether as a player, coach, benefactor, executive or a person who has made a major impact on the game.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Maine Golf Hall of Fame has an exhibit at the Maine State Building on the grounds of the Poland Spring Resort and Golf Club. We wish to thank Cyndi Robbins and the Poland Spring Resort for being such a gracious host of the history of Maine golf.
After 15 years at the helm of the Maine Golf Hall of Fame, Gary Rees is calling it a career. Gary led the MGHOF while finding a home at the Maine State Building at Poland Spring Resort.
Gary, an inductee in 2004, has done a tremendous job and loves collecting Maine golf memorabilia. Thanks to Gary for countless hours and protecting the legacy of golf in Maine.
Gary's big shoes will be partially filled by Brian Bickford, MGHOF Class of 2016. Also deserving many thanks is Gary's wife Toni who donated many hours keeping Gary in line. :)
